Omaha, NE (06/19/11) - What more can you say? The Orpheum Theater is now the site of the 10th Annual Omaha Riverfront Jazz and Blues Festival.
"The Missouri River flooding this year is something that happens once in a lifetime," Festival Organizer Tim Clark said. "We can't fight Mother Nature, but we can be sure the tenth annual festival will continue to help keep jazz alive in our city." The music is still set to start on Friday, July 8, and features The Whispers. Before that, music fans will thrill to soul sensation Dani Cleveland. Friday night also features Jazz Attack, featuring Rick Braun, Gerald Albright and Peter White; plus TIZER featuring Chieli Minucci, Karen Briggs & Lao Tizer. "The show must go on," Clark said. "We all will miss being by the river, but this just means the festival will provide a new experience!"
Saturday night is highlighted by Soul of Summer, featuring Jonathan Butler, Eric Darrius, Maysa and Omaha's Grammy Award-winning Karrin Allison. All of them hit the stage on Saturday, July 9.
The show begins both days at ? p.m. Tickets are $38 per day or $60 for two days. Patron seating is $45 per night or $80 for both sessions. Ticket outlets include Homer's Music, Ticket Omaha and Love's Jazz & Arts Center or online at ticketomaha.

Omaha, NE (06/06/06) - The Mighty Mo will be engulfed with
jazz and blues music once again, as the
annual Omaha Riverfront Jazz and Blues
Festival gears up for it’s 5th year. The
music kicks off at 5:30 July 7th with
doors opening at 4:00 and continues into
Saturday with the doors opening at 2:30
and music starting at 3:30. The festival
has been highly anticipated in the past
and this year is no exception. Grammy
award winning Artist Chaka Khan and 30
year vintage jazz veterans Spyro Gyra
will kick off the 2-day event Friday
night, along with Janis Joplin’s
original band Big Brother and the
Holding Company, and the Steve Rabine
Band. Saturday’s line up features last
year’s hottest jazz violinist Ken Ford,
as well as chart topping, award winning
brass musician and song writer Rick
Braun. New Orleans native, and bayou
queen of the piano, Marcia Ball is
another artist to listen for on
Saturday. Other acts include saxophone
playing blonde bombshell Mindi Abair,
local artist Luigi Waittes, and Big John
Dickson and Curly Martin.
